Aiming at discussing several issues related to progressing the higher education and Scientific Research sector, on Monday June 29, 2015 Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Council , headed the fifth normal meeting of the council.
Heads of Kurdistan Region universities, counselors and General Directors of the ministry attended the meeting.
Initiating the meeting, Dr. Yusuf Goran indicated the importance of the implementation of the Project of National Ranking of Kurdistan Region Universities, and emphasized that carrying out the project will create scientific and academic competition among the universities; urges the universities to develop and boost the quality insurance, develope the scientific levels of researches.
“This project is one of the strategic projects of our ministry and the Kurdistan Regional Government, thus we are seriously trying to succeed and declare the results of the project in the current year,” Dr. Yusuf Goran said.
Later, Dr. Ahmed Fathulla, Director of Kirkuk Office of the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the higher education process in Kirkuk province, showing with figures, via the Data-Show apparatus, the participation ratio of every ethnic in the academic centers in the multi-ethnic city of Kirkuk.
The attendees made evaluations and discussed the issues of higher education in the province.
Then, the attendees discussed all points and items of the meeting’s agenda, including: students’ affaires, scientific affairs, higher education, administrational and financial affairs, and affaires of private-sector universities. After detailed discussion, opinions and suggestions by presidents of Kurdistan Region universities to tackle the issues and develop the affairs of higher education were put into consideration.
